A sunny thanksgiving! How lucky!

This is a crazy busy weekend, all that 10 10 10 stuff has got us running off our feet.
It is great especially since we are nearing the end of a wonderful wedding season. This year it started in April and will run right up until the last weekend in October. I am pleased to tell you we have 3 weddings in November so you will still see some great shots of really pretty flowers.
Today, our first delivery of the weekend went to Keri. Her wedding and reception will be taking place this evening at the Art Gallery Hamilton - a venue I love!
We mixed hot pink, fuchsia and lime green flowers to accent a deep purple focal colour. Since we have 4 wedding this weekend I fell short on photos of Keri's flowers. If I have a chance I will see if Keri can email me some to show you.
What an awesome day for a wedding ! I pray the whole weekend is like this for all who get married.

I'll try to snap some photos Sunday ( I know you love the photos.. so do I )
Happy thanksgiving!

August was a blur, for you too?

Wow, that was the fastest 31 day's ever!
I created the flower arrangements for 8 weddings which doesn't sounds like much but I also squeezed in 2 mini vacations and worked on some Vyn projects.
August 27 & 28 was our busiest weekend of the year, I think I made a zillion corsages and boutonnieres. Actually let me give you a little rundown on what I did create that weekend so you have an idea of just how busy this girl can get.
28 wedding bouquets, 21 corsages, 41 boutonnieres, 32 table centres and 4 arrangements for ceremonies. Sharon and I delivered to 6 different locations for drop off and set ups. We had a great time and I even had a chance to take a few pictures for you!
The last weekend I took off and we (the family) went across the border to Darien Lake. It was awesome! I did not know that the American schools started in August so it was pretty much Ontario plates in the parking lots. We hardly had to wait for a ride and we had some great weather. The first day and a half we had that hot and hazy weather so we parked ourselves at the water park ( I at the lazy river) and soaked up the sun and waterslides.  The evenings were cool and we did encounter a few good sized down pours. If you just pretend you are at a fall fair it seems quite perfect! :)  Ed and I went on the mind eraser at night.. boy I felt I'll after that!.. I should have known better ;)
All and all it was a great way to finish the summer off and take a little break.
This week we are gearing up for 2 receptions at the Ancaster Old Mill for 2 fabulous women.
Hydrangea is a big theme for both weddings and seems perfect as always.
I'll be taking pictures if the weather co-operates!
For now, enjoy these for the past weekend.

Vyn-dicated

Well not in the traditional sense of the word :)
We have been working with Vyn flowers of Ancaster. Vyn is a dried decor, candle & vase importer which supplies to the retail floral world. They have been picking my brain for things such as marketing, product design and freshening up their line for 2011. They supply to mass market chain stores across the USA and all over Europe. Here they supply Canadian tire  just to name one place .. you may see some of their handy work in Canadian tire out door section. We are working on marketing tools to the retail industry. So far Hollie of Hollie Cooper Interiors and myself have been working together to put Vyn product in the home.  Most people have a hard time envisioning something in their home or may look at particular products and have no idea how to use it. Our goal is to show by vignettes, just how Vyn product can be incorporated in to the home. This will in turn make it easier for retailers to sell the product to you the consumer.  It is quite the process and takes time for it to filter down but Hollie, Vyn and myself are happy with how things are turning out so far.
This week we have been planning the product and booth design for the CGTA gift show at the International centre in Toronto. It is a major undertaking and one of the biggest Gift shows around. This event runs for a week and targets Ontario retail and wholesale business, showcasing what is going to be hot for the fall, Winter and Spring. Many will take catalogues home and place orders for the next 3 season.  What you see at the show will be in the stores by September.
I have some other project with Vyn but this is by far the biggest and it is very exciting.
Here is a sneak peak from our vignette shoot. some of the designs are mine ( which I created for the shoot using Vyn product) some are of pre-made product Vyn sells.. i love them especially the wreath and table top bouquets.

enjoy!

Our crazy month is ahead :)

So August is approaching, we are closed for the first week between vacation and getting ready for the Toronto gift show it is going to be a bit crazy but hopefully fun and relaxing too. My husband and I have 2 children, Iris age 10 and Cal age 8 so our holidays have to be sometime in the summer. Their favourite thing to do is camp ! that is simple enough so we take a few weeks each summer and Lord willing - we go camping.
This months vacation time has has been interrupted a bit with the gift show. I have been a few times to check it out but this 2010 show we are collaborating with the dried flower & branch company Vyn Flowers  They have exceptional product however it can be hard to see where it fit's into your home. If you are like me you may remember your mothers or grandmothers country broom stick swag hanging on the wall or door.. this is what we will be trying to erase from your memory. So, we will be creating a couple vignettes and new theme lines to help with that vision.
LOTS OF WORK! - we are also going to create a Christmas scene for each line. I have got to drag my Christmas tree out of the basement storage.. I wonder if Ed will let me keep it up from now till January??? LOL
So fresh flowers are always on my mind, we have been writing quotes for August, September October and November.
In August we have 9 weddings booked over 3 weeks - as I am on vacation from the 1st - 9th.

We had some beautiful weddings these last few weeks I'll share some pics below.
One of our weddings we actually made up 2 bouquet for the bride to choose from. I'll post them below and you can guess what one she picked - the other one ended up being her LOVELY toss bouquet !

As I had mentioned in my last  post we have seen a lot of gerbera, check out the bouquets below!

Hot pink was huge this month along with vibrant colours, below we have deep purple bouquets of lysitahus and flower balls of Hot pink carnations with a softer toss bouquet for some lucky brides :)

In place at the Ancaster Old Mill

Purple in its glory:)

The last for now, the toss bouquet.

I'll have to tell you about our anniversary party for Lorna .. but that is another story .. Like hammy hamster use to say :)

Thanks for reading!

Big on gerbera this week!

On the menu : It will be Gerbera over the next few weeks actually, we will be working with a lot of local gerbera! Summer just calls for that happy vibrant flower. It all started with Shari's bouquets at the beginning of the month, then we found ourselves inspired by it right in to August.

Now for last weeks wedding:

I was able to grab up some white peony from Holland .. when I see them I just have to buy them. Our Old Mill wedding was a black and white wedding and I am just dying for pictures. The Maids were in this amazing cream and white print dress and we picked the super green rose to add a bit of pop, the groomsmaids were in straight black dresses and they carried a mix of white and green flowers. You can see our ceremony arrangements were in black etched glass vases to bring a little more sexy to the ceremony.  I was not able to capture the Brides bouquet but I hope to get a few photos sometime. For now you can check out the ones below.

Mishmash to catch you up :) Enjoy

Here is a few collages of our work this past month. Enjoy!

Grad time!

Not many of you know this but I am a youth leader at our Church. I am happy to say one of my favourite Sara's has graduated!
Her best bud asked me to make her a corsage and Sara ordered a boutonniere for him as well.
I chose a dark eggplant calla and white Chincher florets accented with black and silver for Sara's wrist corsage. For Spencer's boutonniere  created with the same calla and a bloom of white chincher arabicum just for a punch of brightness.

Check them out, I love it!

Toooo cute! I'll have to show you next time Sara :)
